We May Not Be Out of the Woods Yet . . .
Eight sealed bids were opened by the selectmen at the June 15th Board of Selectmen meeting for the purchase of the Sanford Hill property in Freedom. The winning bid was for $110,000 made by Blaine Miller from Dirigo Timberlands located in North Anson.
We can only speculate as to what a company who specializes in forest consulting and forestland management services will do with the 180+ acres of wooded property. Will it be selectively cut? Clear cut? Harvested and re-sold? And, if so, to whom? Who will be interested in purchasing the property if and when Dirigo Timberlands decides to sell?
That, I’m sure, is the question in the minds of most Freedom residents. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
