This page is currently under construction, but soon we will give you more information about “The Families” (as those involved in this blog are dubbed) and invite you into our once serene little town.

In the meantime, how about you get to know a little something about Freedom, Maine.
A special thank you to Frances Walker from The Families. The Freedom Home Page was created in the mid-nineties by Frances and is still maintained on a volunteer basis by her.

Freedom, Maine has joined the ranks of neighboring towns and now has a Wind Turbine Ordinance!

Posts within this blog will mainly be focused on the events and happenings surrounding the Beaver Ridge Wind turbines and our town of Freedom, Maine. However, we welcome any news on related topics that others wish to share.

The Littlefield Family

Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Barbara Littlefield and my family and I live within 2,600 ft of the Beaver Ridge Wind project. For some unknown reason I agreed to be the “keeper” of this blog for The Families. I only ask that you bear with me as we get this site “spiffed” up as I’ve only recently learned what blogging is all about and this is unfamiliar territory. As we continue posting, I’m sure you’ll get to know more than you want to about myself as well as my family. So for now, and until this page is fully constructed, I’ll leave you with this quote: “Do not call for black power or green power. Call for brain power.” — Barbara Jordan, American Lawyer

The Gerrish Family

Hi folks, our names are Bob and Cathy Gerrish. Yes, we are a part of the “families” who initiated The Beaver Dam. We moved into our lovely homestead in 2002, but because of our proximity to the wind turbines (about 1,500 ft from the Beaver Ridge Wind project) our family is being driven out of our home and the area we love. Unfortunately, we are finding this attempt very difficult because we cannot sell our home for a fair price due to the fact that our property has devalued. Nor will Freedom acknowledge this devaluation and abate our property taxes even though we have documentation from various realtors.
